1. Introduction

TRF Healthcare Ltd is committed to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in all its forms. This statement is made in accordance with Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and sets out the steps we have taken and continue to take to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking are not taking place within our business or supply chains.

2. Our Business

We deliver domiciliary care, live-in care, companionship, dementia support, and staffing solutions to individuals and healthcare organisations across the South of England. Our workforce comprises directly employed care staff and agency workers.

3. Our Policies

We operate a number of internal policies to ensure we are conducting business in an ethical and transparent manner. These include:

  • Recruitment Policy: We carry out rigorous right-to-work checks, DBS screening, and reference verification for all staff. We ensure that no worker is required to pay fees for their employment.
  • Whistleblowing Policy: We encourage all employees, workers, and partners to report concerns about any aspect of our business, including any suspicion of modern slavery, without fear of retaliation.
  • Safeguarding Policy: We have robust safeguarding procedures to protect vulnerable adults in our care from exploitation and abuse.
  • Code of Conduct: Our code of conduct sets out the standards of behaviour expected of all staff and makes clear that exploitation in any form is unacceptable.

4. Due Diligence and Supply Chain

We undertake due diligence when considering new suppliers and regularly review our existing supply chains. Our due diligence processes include:

  • Evaluating modern slavery and human trafficking risks within our supply chain.
  • Requiring suppliers to confirm compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
  • Conducting periodic reviews of supplier practices and policies.
  • Maintaining a zero-tolerance approach to any form of modern slavery within our operations.

5. Risk Assessment

We recognise that the healthcare sector can be vulnerable to modern slavery risks, particularly in areas such as:

  • Recruitment of overseas workers.
  • Use of temporary or agency labour.
  • Low-paid or vulnerable workers.

We mitigate these risks through robust recruitment processes, regular audits, and ongoing staff training.

6. Training

All staff receive training on modern slavery awareness as part of their induction programme. Additional training is provided to management and those involved in recruitment and supply chain management. This training covers:

  • How to identify signs of modern slavery and human trafficking.
  • How to report concerns through our whistleblowing and safeguarding procedures.
  • The legal framework surrounding modern slavery in the UK.

7. Reporting Concerns

We encourage anyone who has concerns about modern slavery in any part of our business or supply chain to report them. Reports can be made through our whistleblowing procedure or directly to management. All reports will be investigated thoroughly and treated in confidence.

8. Review

This statement is reviewed annually and updated as necessary to reflect our ongoing commitment to combating modern slavery and human trafficking.
